C&L Declarations is an Irish customs brokerage that files import and export declarations with Revenue, Ireland's tax and customs authority, for businesses anywhere in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. We also handle GB-Ireland RoRo filings, excise movements, courier imports and car imports, and we stay with each entry until the goods are released. Send us the invoice and the route, and you get a clear quote the same working day, before anything is filed.

Import a car or van

Cars and vans from Great Britain, Northern Ireland and elsewhere, for private buyers and dealers.

Cars from Japan

How do you pay the duty and VAT on an import?

You pay it from your own deferred payment account with Revenue, or we pay it through C&L Declarations' own Revenue account and recharge it to you. If your business is registered for VAT and for Customs and Excise, import VAT can usually be postponed to your VAT3 return instead. Customs duty still has to be paid. Your quote shows how duty and VAT will be paid before we file.

Questions we get asked

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a customs broker to import or export goods in Ireland?

No. An importer or exporter can lodge its own customs declaration with Revenue, or appoint a representative to do it. C&L Declarations acts as your representative: we file the declaration on Revenue's systems and deal with any document request or examination until the goods are released.

Can you clear goods at any port in Ireland?

Yes. Customs declarations are made electronically, so C&L Declarations clears goods arriving at Dublin, Rosslare, Cork or any other Irish port. Tell us the port and the arrival date and we file for the right customs office. You don't need to visit us.

Do I need an EORI number?

Yes, if your business imports goods into or exports goods out of the EU. Irish businesses register for an EORI number through Revenue Online Service (ROS), and the registration must include your Eircode. If you are VAT-registered, your EORI number is normally IE followed by your VAT number. We check it when we look at your paperwork.

How quickly will you reply?

We reply to quotes and questions the same working day, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00. The quickest way is WhatsApp on 086 846 1240 with a photo of the invoice and the route. Messages that arrive after 17:00 or at the weekend are answered the next working day.

Are duty and VAT included in your fee?

No. Our service fee is separate from duty, VAT and any port or third-party charges. You get a clear quote for our fee before anything is filed. Duty and VAT are paid at the amounts Revenue calculates, by you or through our Revenue account.
