Commodity Codes

Commodity codes are descriptions of goods being declared; this is used to determine the correct rate of duty. Every product has a commodity code in the form of a ten-digit number, you will find information about commodity codes in TARIC, a database manged by the European commission. This database allows you to search for a commodity code by submitting a description or part description of the product in question.

If you are unsure of the correct classification of your product you can contact Revenues Classification, Origin and Valuation Unit. Opinions provided by the unit are not legally binding. For a product to be legally binding throughout the EU you must apply for Binding Tariff Information (BTI), this will be an accurate tariff classification of your product.
